No Need to Respond, I know...

Don't you just hate child molesters? And high Gas prices? I mean I really hate these things. I wish 'those' people would do something about these horrible things.
Who does love child molesters and high gas prices? No one does. So it is easy pandering that we can go to our politicians and demand that they do something about whatever our ills are. So they turn around and come up with brilliant plans like dropping federal taxes off of gasoline sales and invading ranches in Texas and taking seizure of a hundred kids. While i am not condoning what was going on in Texas (remember, no one likes child molesters), but it does reek a little of religious fervor. And the gas price tax relief would maybe save the average person $30 over the 3 month period, that is if the gas companies don't raise their prices, which they probably would because they already saw that we are willing to pay more for gas. But lets not forget what that tax money goes to pay for, the maintenance of the federal roads and highways. It would put 10,000 people out of work for the summer and potentially increase the amount of accidents due to poorly maintained roads and intersections.
Lets drive less and put more pressure on the Exxon Mobiles of the world to come up with some cash or freeze their prices. Maybe Hugo Chavez was onto something when he took control over his countries oil production from private companies and now the government sets the gas prices, currently 11 cents a gallon.

It is amazing how much the 24 news cycle has ruined our lives.
In the effort to fill so many hours with news the big news companies (Fox, CNN etc.) have convinced us that Lindsey Lohans underwear is news worthy or that a presidential candidate wearing or not wearing a flag pin on their lapel is all we need to know about their elect ability.
There are major issues that could be discussed longer and more indepth by the news stations, such as global warming, world hunger or more than a sound bite from presidential candidates instead room is made for whether or not we can see a naked lady reflected in the vice presidents sunglasses.
At times I am embarrassed to think that in 50 years from now when our children's children look back in history and will ask why people were injecting poison under their skin to look younger or why congress spent their time interrogating baseball players on their use of steroids or not all while a war was going on in Iraq.
We do not learn from our past mistakes, in fact we prefer to keep repeating them. An endless cycle of stupidity and self inflicted ignorance. I could go on for quite sometime in regards to this epidemic of rampant stupidity , but I have to go and vote for my favorite American Idol!

What the fuck...

Earlier this month Bears and Stearns says they are going to go into solvency due to lack of funds based upon poor investment decisions. Within the same WEEK the government has a plan (money and resources) to back another investment bank, JP Morgan, to help 'buy' Bears and Stearns shares to 'help' keep the bank afloat. Three days is all it took for the government to come up with a plan to save a multi-billion dollar private business.
During this same period the government languishes on helping the average person keep from losing the home they live in, all because of the unscrupulous practices of banks like Bears and Stearns. B and S bought into what is known as sub-prime mortgages, which were mortgages made to home buyers that have less than perfect credit with little or no money down. Usually these loans are seen as attractive to banks because they expect the borrower to default on the loan and the bank collects a house for a few thousand dollars and is able to re-sell the property for many thousands of dollars. The current problem is that there are too many houses and loans in the same predicament, causing a lack in payments and an over saturated housing market in which the homes are unsellable.
We as a people rely on the lending institutions to guide us through the process of home ownership and to let us know if we are financially viable to buy a home. That is there job, I know some people will think that it was the home buyers responsibility to make that call, but that is simply not the case. Do we expect a child to know the difference between right or wrong, without the parents input? Of course not. We rely on the judgment of the banks to direct us on the loan process. The banks got greedy and we the people are going to pay for that, by losing our homes and with our tax dollars.

It is O.K. if You are a Whore, but...

I often thank my lucky stars that I have two sons instead of two daughters. I understand how the male brain works much better than our female counter parts. Now, before I get nasty comments regarding the 'awesomeness' of girls, I agree, girls/women are awesome, I love women. Some of the most important people in my life are women. When I say I am glad I have sons it is a whole other matter.
Everything in the media regarding women is rough to look at. I am talking about the Brittanies and the Lindsey's and Paris', often struggling through life and shown, by the media, not at there best. I should not know what the blurred images of these women's vagina's look like, but I do. I really do not care who they have hooked up with or how many people have hooked up with them, I really don't. I liken the media to the lecherous guy in a bar waiting around until the end of the night that then preys on the girls too drunk to know better.
Now, we have one more super girl that the media is plying its seductive, slimy charm , the hooker from the Eliot Spitzer episode. Spitzer lost his high profile job because he broke the law and paid for sex with a hooker. Hookers are arrested all the time for selling their body for sex. Prostitution is illegal, okay, that is fine. But already the media is trying to make her a star and giving her way more press than she deserves. I even saw one recent headline on Google news that read something to the effect; prostitutes brother serving time for selling drugs, like this should come as any surprise, his sister is a whore!
I am glad I do not have daughters, and I make it my mission to those young girls around me to make sure that they can make their own decisions and help them see what is going on and make good choices for themselves. I have no problem if a girl chooses to be a prostitute or whore or Paris Hilton-esque, but they should make that decision on their own without the influence of the press.

Corn gives me Gas

I read an article in Newsweek magazine a couple of weeks ago regarding bio-fuels. The article was addressing the issue of using corn as an alternative fuel source for automobiles, which I had thought made a lot of sense. But after reading the article and reading what the bio-fuel expert had to say, I must say that corn to gas is not the answer.
The amount of energy it takes to produce corn is one of the concerns that were discussed. We often do not think of where things in our lives come from. The corn has to be grown from a seed-that was mechanically husked by a power consuming machine, the fields need to be plowed by a gas powered tractor, the seeds are then planted by a gas powered machine and through out the corns growing period fertilizers and chemicals (both brought into being by gas powered machines) are applied by gas powered machines. Finally the corn is picked by a gas powered machine and processed into ethanol by an energy consuming process. When you add all this up it is easy to see why corn can used as a fuel due to all the energy that goes into producing it. There are some laws of science that are beyond my comprehension about that idea, but the human body is a good example. We have to consume a lot of food to produce our energy (and sometimes gas).
The expert in the Newsweek article finished up the story by clarifying the fact of bio-fuel with a this statistic; if we used ALL of the corn grown in the United States and only made fuel, it would only supply 3 1/2% of our annual fuel consumption, which according to the article, we could save that much on gas consumption if every driver made sure that their tires were properly inflated to the right pressure.
Maybe we should have mandatory tire inflation check points?

To Blog or Not to Blog...

Goldenhar. What is it and why do I know? It is a 'syndrome' that people are born with. Often the people born with Goldenhar are missing parts and have some other issues. My youngest son, Elliot, was born with Goldenhar. Being born with something apparently means you have to trade something in for it. Babies born with Downs syndrome have to trade in a chromosome, my son had to trade in his left ear and left kidney to get his moniker.
While my wife and I had no idea what the hell Goldenhar was when we were given the diagnosis, we have since learned...little. Not much is known in regards to the whys and whats of this syndrome and each case of it is a little different. That makes it quite difficult to work with the insurance companies when treatment is sought for different things. They will cover a prosthetic ear, but 1 only every 4 years. Fake ears are expensive by the way, maybe to expensive to let an 8 year-old walk the streets with one.
Anyway if you see someone on the street that is missing their ear, do not stare. They may be hearing impaired but they are not blind.
We can fix people cosmetically, but there is no treatment,that I know of, to treating gap-jawed, ignorant, hillbillies.
